VWCSA at VKC 2020 by VAG Cafe

Here at the Cafe of VAG, we love to support the Volkswagen Club of SA when they have events. They're always put together just right, but when it comes to the racing events we always wondered why the field of cars is usually made up of non-club members as well as non-VAG cars, especially with so many hot and fast cars in the club - we know they're there because we helped to make many of them fast. Well we're happy to repot...

VDub Camp Fest 2020

The first weekend in February was set aside for the 12th annual VDub Camp Fest, and the biggest gathering of Volkswagens in the Southern Hemisphere would take place come rain or shine. That’s a great attitude to have because rain it was, lots of it, almost enough to rename it to Damp Fest. Some mad enthusiasts arrived at Forever Resorts Warmbaths on the Thursday already, these are mad people. The VAG Café crew decided that Friday would be the right time to head to...

VWCSA + Redstar = RWYB. VAG Cafe reports…

Yeah, drag racing can be a funny, funny thing. Head online to a million and one Facebook groups, check out WhatsApp groups dedicated to cars and racing and you will see literally hundreds of properly modified cars with big power and owners bragging about killing this supercar and that GT-R and this bike and and and... These guys are the ones who share those memes about stance life and park-offs being lame and they make a point of letting everyone know that they...

VWCSA’s VKC adVentures

If you've never been to Vereeniging Kart Track (Laserfiche Raceway), you're missing out. Of course, for karts it's a brilliant venue, but as a once a year venue for streetcars it's even better. This is why the Volkswagen Club of SA makes the effort to secure the venue for a day of dynamic handling, wicked cars and great people, and that day was this past weekend. While the event is a far drive out for some, it's one of those events that...

Camp Fest 2019 by VAG Cafe

The point of annual events is usually for them to get bigger and better every time they take place, and the crew at Cum Laude events have it nailed down. For this 11th instalment of the country's largest aftermarket auto show, Vdub Camp Fest, things were bigger and better in every way possible. The venue was upgraded specifically to cater for more people, the level of cars entered into the show & shine rose a lot, the amount of vendors and exhibitors grew...

Solberg attends the VWCSA’s My Car Got Shot!

Ok, ok, that was a clickbait sorta heading, but you would have visited here anyway because here at VAG Cafe we know you're as passionate with all things Volkswagen as we are. Buuuuuut Solberg was there, if you really wanna get technical. This post is actually about the annual My Car Got Shot event hosted by the Volkswagen Club of SA, which is always a winner, and this year it went sort of on the lines of last year's one with Club Chairman Ian Foat once against showing off his...

VAG Cafe attended the VWCSA Krugersdorp Hillclimb…

It's been a few years since the history-rich Krugersdorp Hillclimb has been put together properly, and as you'd expect it was our mates at the Volkswagen Club of SA that pulled it off. Usually when the club holds something performance related I have to find a nice way of kakking on people for not supporting properly and then still complaining that there aren't enough events for fast cars. At this particular event, around 80 drivers made the effort and the result was an awesome event that had everyone asking one...

TVS-Engineering – For when your transmission needs to catch up

When you mention the Netherlands, people immediately think Amsterdam, and then the mind wanders to things you can smoke. The thing is, the best thing to smoke with products from the Netherlands is your tyres, but only after you add some TVS-Engineering flavour to your VAG car's transmission hardware and software. I mean, how many times have you heard about someone with a VAG car that's been fitted with all the bells and whistles that can churn out stupid power, but when it comes time to put the power down,...

Missed #DubRun 2k18? VAG Cafe didn’t…

Sooo... DubRun 2k18. I've been on a few of these trips to Durban myself, probably half of them although remembering which years is a little bit of a mission. This will be the second time I've covered it for VAG Cafe though and it's an honour to do so because of a fact that many of you may not know - the founders of VAG Cafe were also among the first to introduce the DubRun back in 2007. Basically it started out as a trip to Durban with the Volkswagen...

VWCSA’s Run What You Brung with VAG Cafe at RedStar Raceway

This past weekend saw another event hosted by our favourite car club, the Volkswagen Club of SA. This time round the club heeded the calls, complaints, wants and needs of members and supporters. You see, after all the big and successful park off and show-style events hosted by the club, you will ALWAYS find complaints from various people who want to race, to go fast somewhere in a massive dick-swinging event to prove who has the fastest car. This is great, because the club is made up of many, many...
